Choosing extrusions

STEPS
For each location where edge lighting is being planned:

Determine application

Edge lighting can be applied to a variety of applications. There are different extrusions that have been specifically-designed to these different applications. – ranging from recesses, ceiling, walls, corners, under units, and more. Our product pages describe the applications for each type of extrusion.

Length required

Our ALD edging comes in lengths of 1m, 2m or 3m depending on the type of edging required. If you need bespoke lengths cut for you, we can provide this service. Just contact us via the support page.

Choosing LEDs

STEPS
For each location where edge lighting is being planned:

Humid or dry environments

Humid environment edge lighting will require our resin-coated LED strip circuits to withstand the humidity. Note whether edge lighting applications are in a humid (e.g. bathroom) or a dry (e.g. any weathertight room) environment.

Tone or colour

Our standard colour temperature is 3000 Kelvin that produces a warm white suitable to a wide range of spaces. Should you require alternative warmth or coldness of white, then contact us. We also provide RGBW LEDs that can produce any colour – suitable for creating a particular mood or adding playfulness to an interior design.

Lumen intensity

Our LEDs come in a range of lumen (brightness) outputs. This creates a range of applications: from low brightness suitable for low level under-unit floor wash; to medium brightness for coffers; and high brightness for task lighting and mirror halos. If you need help, our expert team can recommend the right lumen intensity for your project.

Length required

Our LED strip circuits come in reels of 5m or 30m. If you need custom lengths cut and soldered for you, we can provide this bespoke service. Just contact us via the support page.

Choosing controls

STEPS
For each location where edge lighting is being planned:

Select control method

What functionality would you like an edge lighting detail to have? We have 3 types that can support dimming or simple on/off switching, and colour shifting for RGBW LEDs.

Calculate LED circuit load

The length and power input demands of each LED circuit will require a driver that can support the load. If you decide to use colour LEDs, it can get a bit complicated, so get in touch and we will be happy to help.

That’s it. Browse our products or contact us for support if you need it and we will be happy to help.
